Ilkley Gardeners' Association's final meeting of 2015 is this Thursday, 3rd of December held at the usual venue of Ilkley Parish Church House Hall by the main traffic lights in Ilkley, doors open 7.30pm and all gardener's are welcome. Admission £1 (£2 non-members) and includes tea, biscuits & mince pies.

Our speaker this month is Katie Burnett from Courtyard Plants of Otley who will be displaying Plants for Winter Interest. We will also be holding a raffle.

chrisclematisAt our November Meeting, held in the Parish Church House Hall by the main lights in Ilkley on the evening of the 5th of November Chris Cocks of Taylor Clematis kept us entertained and informed on the three main groups of Clematis and how to get the best out of them.

David AllisonOur October 2015 Meeting was attended by some 30 members and guests who were treated to as always, an excellent talk by David Allison on a Beginners Guide to Fruit Growing (part 1). Not only did David show us examples of how to train apples and pear trees for the small garden, such as cordons and espalliers (ideal for along fences) but gave us information on why as well as how to grow fruit trees, even for the smallest of gardens, but he also brought samples for us to taste and take home.

David AllisonOur next meeting will be held on October 1st in the usual venue of the Ilkley Parish Church House Hall starting at 7.45pm (doors open by 7.30), admission £1 (£2 non-members/guests) and will feature regular guest and popular local speaker, David Allison who will be talking on a Beginners Guide to Fruit Growing and knowing David, will no doubt feature produce from his own allotment.

Following last month's survey, the sheds are now closed for the year and will re-open in March 2016.
