Remember, no matter how colourful your garden is during the summer, Green is a colour too and often can come into it's own during the winter months.

Also, a number of different heathers can offer both colour throughout the year and ground cover, thus keeping the weeds under control as well as a variety of green, and other colours, from January to December.

A splash of colour can be easy to add, a pack of mixed Cyclamen from a nursery like Twin Locks at Gargrave dotted around a garden now, gives a nice display into the Autumn.

A clump of Sedum spectabile can brighten up an area as well as attract late summer Butterflies and Bees thus bringing your garden alive with the sound of buzzing.

And finally, what better use to make of part of your garden but to grow your own! The fact that you have just picked your lunch or dessert seems to add so much flavour to it! Regardless of if it is a few sprouts or a cabbage, or some home grown Blackberries or even Autumn Raspberries the fact that you grew and picked it, and you've got the stained fingers to prove it, the flavour seems to absolutely ZING!
