2017 Logo Looking forward to 2017, just a few years down the road, which will mark the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Ilkley Gardeners' Association.

Hopefully we will be able to mark the ocassion with a very special guest speaker for one of our Monthly Meetings.

Well, October has been a month of mixtures! Some mornings are so wet you would think we need webbed feet to get around, others so foggy we need infra-red vision! Some days it stays like it starts all day, while others start off badly and clear up later so that by lunch time the sun can be "cracking the flags" and everywhere dries up.

Some mornings though are so beautiful, sadly these have probably gone for the winter now as sunrise times move later and later, not to mention the...

It is Fuchsia Black to the Fuchsia.

The Allotments and Gardens Council The IGA Committee is pleased to advise our members that the Association has obtained membership with the Nottingham based Allotments and Gardens Council thus giving the Assocation and its members access to their facilities.

The Allotments and Gardens Council (UK) [AGC] was set up to represent allotment holders and societies in all areas. To provide help and advice on all allotment matters and whereever possible, to safeguard allotment sites by all legal means. To make available to members...

The Association Fuchsia for 2007 was purchased early in the year, in fact it was ordered late 2006 with a hope that a special variety could be chosen to be suitable for our 40th Anniversary.

I looked for a variety called Ruby (no luck), Anniversary (no luck again) and finally settled on Wharfedale as the 2007 Association Fuchsia and duly ordered 50 cuttings for April 2007.

When I went to collect them I was told that the cuttings had not grown well enough to be suitable for our purposes and...

Matthew Biggs, our special guest speaker for the 40th Anniversary Meeting (5/4/07)

Matthew Biggs, the renowned gardening author and TV / radio personality joined in the 40th anniversary celebration of the Ilkley Gardeners' Association last Thursday and made it an event to remember.  He had travelled all day to arrive in Ilkley but was still able to enthral his large audience of over 100 with his enthusiastic story-telling.

He has been a TV presenter on "Garden Club" and "Grass Roots" as well as a regular on Gardeners' Question Time on...
