As it has been almost three months since we closed and asked for horticultural projects from Ilkley groups and schools, it is perhaps time for an update.
So far the Assocation has been delighted to support various local groups in projects around town. These include a donation to Friends of Ilkley Moor towards an accessable path to the Swastika Stones, a disabled access bench for Darwin Gardens, handing over our Show Trophies to Ilkley Produce, Craft and Flower Show and a donation to Ilkley In Bloom to help tidy up the area on Leeds Road opposite Skipton Hire Centre & Kwikfit. Also a new projector screen for the Ilkley Youth Club on Springs Lane. Our digital projector was donated to Community Action, Ilkley which is based in Riddings Hall, Riddings Road for use by other local groups (01943 603348).
Schools who have benefitted from donations or actual help include the Gardening Clubs at Ilkley Grammar School and Ben Rhydding Primary School. Ben Rhydding Pre-School have benefitted from work done by Amanda Zoe Gardening Design and Ilkley Pre-School Playgroup are receiving help in the form of compost, bird feeders, child friendly tools and once the weather improves, some scented and tactile planting to enhance their garden areas.
